Group work with a purpose
Batching can reduce repeated visits to the same area, but a bigger batch is not always easier to manage. Consider cart capacity, item size and the time needed to sort items at the packing station.
Keep order identity visible
Use clearly identified totes or compartments. Verify the item variant and quantity, not just the product family or a similar-looking package. A successful scan should be followed by confirmation that the item is going to the correct tote.
Make shortages visible
Do not silently substitute a similar item. Record the shortage, keep affected work identifiable and follow an agreed exception process.
Before handing work to packing, reconcile the picked quantities and the orders represented on the cart. A clear handoff is as important as an efficient route.
