Weight is only one input
Some services consider both actual weight and dimensional weight. The calculation, rounding and applicable limits depend on the carrier, service and account terms. Avoid applying one universal divisor to every shipment.
Measure the finished package
Record the outside dimensions after sealing. Include bulges or protrusions in your measurement rather than relying only on the dimensions printed on an empty carton.
Test packaging alternatives
Choose a smaller carton only when it still provides suitable protection. Compare the shipping quote, materials and packing effort for common product combinations.
- Pack a representative order safely.
- Measure and weigh the finished parcel.
- Compare the available services.
- Save the verified packaging choice for similar orders.
Review the preset again when the product or packing method changes.
