Warehouse Locations Your Picking Team Can Actually Use
Clear location labels, separate work areas and consistent putaway records make inventory easier to find during a busy shift.

Give every location a clear identity
Choose a consistent naming pattern, such as aisle, rack and shelf. Print readable labels and place them where a worker can scan them without guessing which shelf they identify.
Separate storage from exceptions
Keep receiving, storage, packing and exception areas clearly identified. Inventory waiting for inspection should not be confused with stock that is ready to pick. Define who can release an exception back to normal stock.
Record movement when it happens
A clear label does not help if the system still shows an old location. Record putaway and transfers as part of the physical task. When an item is not where expected, investigate the movement history before changing quantities.
Start with one aisle, check whether a new team member can find the right shelf, and refine the layout before expanding it.
